Abstract
The focus of this paper is the significant gap between the current potential of today's models and modelling and the actual practice. Based on over 80 years of industrial experience, the authors describe problems that plague poor modelling.
The paper: describes the different types of models and their uses; provides a high-level generic model development approach; and addresses some of the real-world challenges that modelers and their managers need to address.
